A magnificent antique William IV mahogany armchair, the curved oblong top-rail and foliate-scrolled crossbar above a drop-in seat on fluted baluster front legs. Dating from circa 1830, this is a transitional piece; the classic Regency lines now incorporating an exuberant later style, evident in the conjoined stylised leaf-filled cornucopia crossbar. With generously scrolled arms it stands on turned and acanthus leaf carved legs. It has been newly re-upholstered in a Welsh blanket style fabric (man-made fabric). A beautiful statement piece that would make a handsome desk chair.
