A lovely and substantial mid to late Victorian ring, which would suit either man or a woman. The central cabochon sapphire is deep indigo with flashes of cornflower, contrasting beautifully with a pair of colourless old mine cut diamonds. All stones are in a heavy weight yellow gold band. Extremely versatile; can be worn as a wedding band, a unisex dress ring or an alternative style engagement ring. Lovely.
Internal stamp of Queen Victoria's head (an Assay duty mark that was used pre-1880).
Cut -Round cabochon sapphire and old mine cut diamonds.
Colour - Diamond are F; colouless.
Clarity - One diamond is SI1, one is VS1. Both are totally clean and clear to the naked eye.
Carat - The sapphire is approximately 1.00 carat. Each of the diamonds are estimated at 0.50 carat, so 1.00 total.
Circa - 1880.
Condition - Excellent. Faint signs of a resize on the base of the inside of the band.
Size - Currently P 1/2 (UK) or 7 3/4 (US). Complementary sizing is available, can be sized up or down.
Measurements - The band is 3.5mm graduating up to 8mm. The top of the sapphire sits 4.8mm from the finger
Metal - 18k gold. Tested.
